Pricing
Free to play on macOS and iOS (with in app purchases of other Wizards). Purchaseable Wizards are slightly faster or more powerful but won't give any huge advantages
in progressing through the game. There are no in-game ads for either of these games. The two additiobal purchaseable Wizards are totally optional.
Background
Corridors of Magic is an arcade hack and slash action adventure game.
It's inspired by games like Druid, Gauntlet
and Atic Atac. I grew up with ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 computers and spent countless hours of my childhood
playing games on both of those systems. Druid on Commodore 64 and Atic Atac on ZX Spectrum were among my favorites. As far as Gauntlet is concerned, I much preferred the
coin operated arcade version (although I did play and enjoy it on the Commodore 64 also and obviously had much more time doing this as opposed to hanging around an
arcade).
Gameplay
- Pick a Wizard and progress through various dungeon levels.
- Every few levels, you will reach a save checkpoint. These are not on every level and you need to usually get through challenging levels in order to reach a checkpoint.
- There are 3 spell weapons: Fire, Water and Lightning. Upon opending any chest, you will have a choice of which of these to choose (and a number of how many casts of a certain spell). Different monsters will have different vulnerabilities to each spell.
- In addition to spells there are potions: Invisibility and Fast. Use them wisely to progress through difficult parts of a level.
- Use keys to unlock doors and hearts to replenish health (hit points).
- Once your health goes to zero you will die (restarting at the most recent checkpoint).
